Purpose of the Role

The Health, Safety, and ISO Compliance Advisor is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing health and safety policies, procedures, and compliance programs to ensure a safe working environment and adherence to ISO standards.

This role will oversee all aspects of health and safety, conduct risk assessments, and drive continuous improvement in safety practices across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

  • Policy Development: Create, implement, update, and maintain health, safety, and compliance policies and procedures in line with Health & Safety regulations.

  • Risk Assessment: Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks.

  • Problem Solving: Finding practical solutions to issues that may arise on site.

  • Maintain Standards: To drive the continuous improvement of Health and Safety and ISO standards on site.

  • Training and Education: Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on health and safety practices, emergency procedures, and compliance requirements.

  • Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into accidents, injuries, and near-misses, and prepare detailed reports with recommendations to prevent future occurrences.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations, and maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and best practices.
  • Safety Inspections: Perform regular safety inspections of facilities, equipment, and work practices to identify and address potential safety issues.
  • Emergency Response: Develop and oversee emergency response plans and coordinate drills to ensure preparedness for various emergency situations.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, training sessions, and compliance activities.
  • Perform regular audits to ensure compliance assurance. Report any non-conformance through the NCR process and escalate to Management.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with management, employees, and external agencies to promote a culture of safety and ensure continuous improvement in health and safety practices.
  • Adhere to all health & safety or other internal policies and processes at all times.
  • Support the Line Manager and the business with any other reasonable projects and tasks as and when required.

Knowledge, Skills & Attributes - Essential:

  • IOSH/NEBOSH General certificate would be preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations, compliance standards, and best practices.
  • In-depth knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid organisational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills.
  • Strong IT skills.
  • 4 Years experience in a similar role.
