Case Study
Intesa Sanpaolo is Italy’s leading banking group and one of Europe’s most prominent financial institutions. With an extensive physical footprint, its branches and offices serve as critical brand touchpoints, engaging millions of customers every day.
As the bank’s corporate identity evolved, Intesa Sanpaolo faced the challenge of translating that refreshed brand into physical environments at scale. Signage and furnishings needed to clearly express the brand’s values while supporting new ways of working and more customer-centric experiences.
The challenge extended beyond design. The network spans hundreds of active locations, each with distinct architectural conditions, regulatory requirements, and operational constraints. Maintaining brand consistency, quality, and continuity of service, while managing costs and long-term maintenance, required a partner capable of disciplined execution and sustained reliability over time.

Principle delivered an integrated, long-term implementation program that combined brand-led design with operational excellence. Our scope included: • Design and development of signage and furniture aligned with Intesa Sanpaolo’s corporate identity • Definition of technical standards and specifications to ensure nationwide consistency • Engineering of products to meet durability, safety, and maintenance requirements • Coordination of production and installation across the Italian network • Ongoing program management, quality control, and cost optimization Working in close collaboration with Intesa Sanpaolo’s central and local teams, Principle ensured brand standards were upheld while responding effectively to site-specific needs. This partnership-based approach enabled continuous refinement and evolution as both the network and brand identity developed over time.

Over more than ten years, the program has played a key role in establishing a clear, cohesive, and highly recognizable physical identity for Intesa Sanpaolo across Italy. The signage and furnishings have supported the bank’s transformation, reinforcing brand authority while improving the functionality and quality of its spaces. The longevity of the relationship reflects the strength of the implementation framework and Principle’s ability to perform as a trusted, long-term partner. By combining strategic rigor with disciplined execution, Principle continues to help Intesa Sanpaolo translate brand vision into consistent, high-quality experiences, everywhere customers encounter the brand.
