Brands at Elevation: The New Challenge of the Modern Skyline

By Gareth Parkinson / Commercial Director, MENA

Across the Middle East, skylines are becoming increasingly ambitious. New commercial districts, mixed-use developments and corporate headquarters are redefining cities such as Dubai, Riyadh and Doha, creating new opportunities for brands to establish a visible presence.

Yet the higher a brand appears, the greater the complexity behind it.

From street level, elevated branding often appears deceptively simple. A logo integrated into a façade or positioned prominently atop a tower can feel like a straightforward extension of a brand identity. In reality, delivering visibility at elevation requires a combination of engineering expertise, regulatory coordination, safety planning and operational discipline.

Every building presents unique challenges. Structural conditions, access strategies, local authority requirements, installation methodologies and ongoing maintenance considerations must all be addressed long before a sign reaches a façade.

As architectural ambition continues to increase throughout the region, so too do expectations. Brand presence is no longer viewed as a finishing touch. It is becoming an integral part of how organisations express identity, attract talent and establish credibility within increasingly competitive markets.

The most successful projects recognise this from the outset. They approach brand implementation not as an isolated installation exercise, but as a carefully managed process that aligns design intent with operational reality.

Ultimately, visibility is only one measure of success. The real achievement lies in creating a brand presence that is safe, enduring and seamlessly integrated into the built environment.
